Are you one of the busy buddies at work who are most of the time, going home with a headache and tiresome feeling? You are most probably stressed out and need some helpful ways to cope up.
You can fight stress by just eating right and avoiding those poor nutritional choices. Here’s how:
- Don’t skip breakfast
You might believe it’s alright to keep your tummy empty in the morning and just settle for a cup of coffee. But actually, skipping breakfast does not stabilize your blood sugar level which is very important for your body’s functioning. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so don’t deprive yourself.
- Get rid of caffeine
Coffee, soda and other drinks that are rich in caffeine should be avoided because they actually increase the level of your cortisol which is so called the “stress hormone” of your body. If you are a coffee drinker, why not replace it with drinks that are beneficial to your health such as milk or green teas?
- Consume foods rich in B Vitamins
B Vitamins reduces your levels of stress and make you feel energized because it produces dopamine in your brain. Dopamine is a chemical that relaxes your mind and eases your stress.
- Eat carbohydrates-rich foods
Carbohydrates relieve your stress by triggering serotonin effects. Serotonin is a chemical that regulates the brain’s stress management system. Consuming foods high in carbohydrates calms our mind even relieves our feeling of hunger.
So if you are feeling worn-out from work, just eat the right foods and avoid the wrong ones. There is no better relief in stress than providing the right nourishment for your body.
